  CURRENT & FEATURED TITLES

"After more than 200 years the picaresque novel finally gets taken over by the heroines we've been waiting for. Here it is recreated as a traveller’s tale of the 1970s, with  sex, religion and rage against the machine.  In adventures that stretch from Michigan to the Banks of the Ganges, Genevieve and Gloria bring us all the trouble we've been missing. This is the perfect title to start a press with."

“I just thought I would tell how it was that Gloria and I tried to get free in case anyone else wants to try it out again.” Genevieve Born to be Wild is playing on the radio. It’s 1967 in a small town outside of Detroit, where riot and revolution are in the air. Little Genevieve wants to join, but how? When the Greenpoint Poles from Brooklyn, move in down the street with their two carnival ponies and their daughter Gloria, she knows the answer has arrived. Gloria and Vieve begin a tangled friendship based on mutual distrust, hatred of authority, and devotion to living their lives as “free people.” Working from the materials at hand, sex, poetry, Ram Dass, Thoreau, and the everlasting promise of somewhere else, the girls plunge into adolescence amidst the anarchy of the 1970’s. The two take to the road hitchhiking and travelling among the escaped convicts, lovers and seekers who populate an America they are set on disrupting. Later when Gloria joins Vieve at her Buddhist monestary in India, a series of betrayals and a final encounter with Ganges, gives at least one of the women, what she has been seeking.
